Which Restylane Facial Filler is Right for Me?
The Restylane family of facial fillers is a brand of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that includes the formulas Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane, Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne.
Every Restylane formula is made of a clear gel that is a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid , a substance that the human body produces to keep skin moist, plump and smooth. Each different Restylane product is designed for a specific purpose.
In this article, the facial filler experts at Advanced Laser Spa in the Madison Heights area explain the different Restylane formulas, to help you decide which one is right for you!
The Restylane Family of Facial Fillers
Restylane Silk
As one ages, loss of collagen often results in thinning lips as well as an increase in vertical lines above the upper lip. Restylane Silk is formulated specifically to restore volume and smoothness to these areas. Restylane Silk provides natural looking and feeling results in and around the lips by using smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles than those used in other Restylane® products.
In fact, Restylane Silk was the first FDA-approved facial filler specifically designed for subtle lip augmentation and the smoothing of wrinkles around the mouth. It’s thinner consistency – administered via ultrafine needle – results in softer, more precise results, making it ideal for enhancing the lips.
In clinical studies, 98% of patients reported visible improvement in lip fullness 14 days after injection. And 77% of patients reported continued visible lip fullness six months after being injected.
Restylane Lyft
Restylane Lyft is formulated to restore lost volume in the midface area. It is the thickest and densest of the Restylane formulas, making it ideal for larger areas including the cheeks, the forehead and even the back of the hands.
Lyft also contains lidocaine which helps to reduce any patient discomfort during injection.
Restylane Lyft is FDA approved for cheek augmentation, in addition to filling moderate to severe facial folds, such as the “nasolabial folds” (also called smile lines or marionette lines). Restylane Lyft can also be used for more dramatic lip augmentation than Restylane Silk.
Restylane Refyne
Restylane Refyne is a more flexible formula than Lyft. It is designed for filling mild to moderate smile lines.
Restylane Refyne’s formula incorporates a unique cross-linking technology in the gel. It integrates smoothly with the skin to smooth lines that run alongside the outside corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds or marionette lines). The flexibility of the formula preserves natural-looking facial movements and expressions – when you’re smiling, frowning, laughing, and even puckering up!
Even better, Restylane Refyne Results last up to a full year or longer.
Restylane Defyne
Restylane Defyne is thicker than Refyne, and is designed for moderate to severe smile lines and folds around the mouth. It offers firmness while maintaining a natural range of facial expressions.
Restylane Defyne and Restylane Refyne are the only facial fillers available on the market that have been shown in a clinical study to help maintain facial movement and expressions.
Like Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne has been proven in clinical studies to last up to 12 months.
